About Attorney Michael P. Chiacchio, Sr.
Mr. Chiacchio focuses his practice of law on the representation of individuals in all matters involving the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P, formerly known as the Division of Youth and Family Services or DYFS). Moreover, Mr. Chiacchio represents individuals in Municipal Court matters in many municipalities across the State of New Jersey.
Mr. Chiacchio has represented individuals in a wide array of civil matters in the Superior Court of New Jersey and matters heard in the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law. These matters include DCP&P findings of child abuse and/or neglect, foster and group home licensing matters, employee disciplinary matters, as well as teacher tenure matters. In addition, he has represented clients in divorce actions involving the equitable distribution of marital assets, child custody and support, and alimony.
A former Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey and a private practitioner, Mr. Chiacchio has civilly prosecuted and defended a significant number of matters that involved child abuse and/or neglect allegations.
Mr. Chiacchio received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern University in 1998 and his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law in 2002. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court. Mr. Chiacchio has also practiced law in the State of Oregon.
